Cristina Vaz de Almeida, PhD, is a specialist in Health Literacy and Communication and currently serves as President of the Portuguese Society for Health Literacy (SPLS). She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (ISCSP, University of Lisbon) and has dedicated her career to advancing health literacy education, research, and practice in Portugal.
She coordinates the Postgraduate Programme in Health Literacy: Models, Strategies, and Intervention at ISPA – Instituto Universitário and is a researcher at the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies (CAPP–ISCSP).
Cristina. Vaz de Almeida has extensive experience designing and implementing educational and awareness programmes in collaboration with healthcare institutions, schools, and public bodies. She is also Editor-in-Chief of the Jornal Investigação Médica and author of several books and articles on health literacy, social marketing, and health communication. A frequent keynote speaker, she actively promotes behavioural change and public engagement in health promotion.
